While damage to UU congregations in Florida is reported as minimal, I feel the immediate threats of this presidency and climate change are drawing our attention (including mine) from the focus of this training. Here’s how you can get the training, and how I’m responding to these threats…

NEW CLIMATE PROJECT
Climate change is a very real threat TODAY with our present actions determining how much more severe impacts are down the road. We all need to step up our action. I have been working with climate activists for the past few years, coaching on organizing, media, and digital strategy. To take this work to the next level, I am launching a new climate project with a close colleague and our extended climate justice network. More on that soon! We’re in planning stages with the project going public early October.

About This Training
Social media is changing how people research, connect with, and join congregations. An increasing number of people decide if your congregation is right for them based on their social media interaction with you — without ever stepping foot on-site.
This means you need to bring more of your membership efforts online otherwise you’re losing your top candidates for membership — the people presently researching your congregation online.

This training will give you concrete strategies to use across social media platforms to move your online audience (what I call online visitors) onsite and into membership.

Who Should Attend
This training is for anyone who communicates on behalf of your congregation, from your minster(s) and religious educators to administrators and volunteers maintaining social media channels. It is for those working with “offline” aspects of greeting, hospitality, and membership growth who need to understand how social media is pulling these processes online. Board and finance leaders will better serve your congregation and meet their fiscal resonsibility after attending! Really, anyone interested in your congregation’s ability to fulfill its mission in our modern world.
If you live in a cave or valley where there is no internet, no cell reception or mobile devices, you can stay home and read a book — everyone else, join us!
Registration is open to all Unitarian Universalist congregational leaders, whether you are in Florida, the Southern Region, or want to drive / fly in from anywhere in the United States. If you can get to Orlando, I’d love to have you join us.
Schedule
I’ll be releasing a full schedule including content outline when registration goes live. I expect us to have doors open at 8am, opening of training start at 9am, core content wrapping up at 2pm, with that followed by last round of Q&A and closing for 3pm.
